The Moon’s Affair

A girl who fell deeply in love with the Moon

Would lie in her garden in wait for the night

Her heart looping in a never-ending swoon

Once the twilight blanketed all within sight

The girl curved her lips into a bright smile

Her eyes glimmering, shining so bright

She reached to the Moon, the stars jealous all the while

Laughter spilling like water from head down to toes

And the Moon smiled back in such elegant style

Blushing with pink to her cheek and her nose

The girl leaped for an embrace full of utter joy

Questioning why the Moon leaves and wherever it goes

But the Moon fell silent like that of a still toy

Saddened by potential reaction of hatred and shock

For the girl, the Moon knew, would never share it with the boy
